Re:Center Ministries Meal Service: June 24
Our next meal service for the men in the addiction recovery program at Re:Center Ministries will be on June 24th at 5:30 p.m. at 757 S Brook St. We can use a couple more volunteers; let me (Larry.Sloan@yahoo.com or 502-552-3990) or Ginger Wallace (glw2169@gmail.com) know if you can help.

For over 10 years, our Rotary Club has served dinner once a month at Re:Center Ministries. We serve a group of men who are in the addiction recovery program. Many members of the club have taken part in this and always find it rewarding. We are looking for some new volunteers.
The meal is served at 6 pm on Wednesdays. We arrive at 5:30 pm to set up the serving tables, and we are finished by 6:30-6:45 pm. It gives us a chance to meet some of the people that are going through this rehab and just break bread and have a meal with them. We pick up the main meal at Kingsley Meats on Taylorsville Road, which includes meatloaf, a potato dish, and a vegetable dish. Volunteers bring the following items: a salad, soft drinks, bread, or rolls and fruit pies.
If you have not volunteered, I think you would find it very interesting and a rewarding time well spent helping out some people that are trying to get their lives back in order. If you have volunteered before, we would love to have you join us again.
Please contact me at Larry.Sloan@yahoo.com or call me at 502-552-3990. We meet at 757 S. Brook Street. The historic building is a former synagogue and church that has been repurposed for the Re:Center Ministries program and is distinctive in that it has a dome. Visit the sanctuary and you can view a Star of David in the center of the dome. Park on the street in front of the building. If you decide to help, I will send you a door code to enter the building. You will be glad you helped out!

Annual Contributions: Prizes Up For Grabs
If you haven't already done so for this Rotary fiscal year, now is a great time to make your annual contributions to the Rotary Fund and The Rotary Foundation.

Congratulations to Vernon Foster, whose name was drawn from the list of $100 or more donors as the winner of this first private label bourbon from Jackson Purchase Distillery, signed by Master Distiller Craig Beam. Thank you to Cliff Elgin for providing this special prize. We've raised over $10,000 so far this year!
Stay tuned for the announcement of the next prize drawing.

This is our local 501(c)(3) foundation that funds the majority of our Club's service projects and grants each year, including our Rotary Honors Scholars and Unsung Heroes programs and scholarships, our Interact Clubs at Western and Iroquois High Schools, our Rotary Leadership Fellows program, the annual speech competition, the monthly meals we serve at Re:Center Ministries, Imagination Library, our sponsorship of refugee families, our reading program at West End School, our Habitat for Humanity and Repair Affair projects, the West Louisville Housing Initiative, and international projects like the Ghana clean water and sanitation project, riverbank filtration wells in Egypt, malaria treatment for mothers and children in Uganda, and clean water and restroom facilities in schools in El Salvador. You can read about our service projects HERE.
Click Read More for more information and the link to donate to the international Rotary Foundation.
$100.00 to The Rotary Foundation (international organization): Click HERE. *Be sure the first box "Annual Fund-SHARE" is checked.
This is the international foundation that funds Rotary's effort to eradicate polio and provides matching funds for the global grants listed on our website (scroll down to the International section) that we support. The Rotary Foundation is also the source of district matching grants that we benefit from each year for projects like Habitat for Humanity and the West End School literacy program. Your donation to The Rotary Foundation has an impact both globally and locally!
We ask that each member contribute $100 or more to each foundation. If you are simply unable to donate at that level, please contribute what you can — we would love to be able to say we have participation from all of our members. The payment forms linked above default to $103 (the additional $3 helps cover some of the merchant fees we are charged), but you can click the "Change Amount" button to adjust the amount.
If you have already made your contributions this Rotary year (July–June) or plan to donate via another method, THANK YOU!
If you have questions or would like to receive an invoice via QuickBooks, email director@louisvillerotary.org.
